John Bogdan, BS/MS Chemical Engineering
Alarm Management & Process Control
John.B
Summary:
Former Senior Engineer with major
chemicals manufacturer (DuPont) with over thirty years of industrial
experience in design, start-up, and operation of complex control schemes
in process industries including high hazard processes.
Former Principal
Consultant of Alarm Management with major controls company (Invensys
Process Systems) with expertise in alarm management, advanced process
control, safety systems, and process optimization
Achievements:
Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and
Black Belt - Designed and implemented a control scheme that reduced
downtime caused by lack of feed by 54%, resulting in an annual
$5.3 million increase in income.
Instigated, designed, and implemented an automated reactor start-up
strategy that reduced start-up times from 380 to 34 minutes with an
annual increase in income of $1.46 million.
DuPont Sustainable Growth Excellence Award - Designed and implemented a
control strategy that increased capacity and significantly reduced
emissions.
DuPont Engineering Excellence Award - Worked as a member of a
multidiscipline team to implement new control and start-up strategies of
a continuous polymerization reactor that increased first pass quality
yield from 80 to 92%, reduced start-up time by two thirds, and resulted
in an annual $3 million increase in income.

Ari Bar-on, BME, MME, P.E.
Mechanical Engineering
Ari
Capabilities:
Specialist in the design and development of electro-mechanical equipment.
Managed design task groups working on office copiers, designed automatic systems,
supervised the design of automatic controls for machines, coordinated the development
of new products from initial concept through production. Able to address poorly defined
problems in a systematic and organized fashion which leads to an engineered solution.
Accomplishments:
Worked on various projects ranging from photovoltaic power generation to instrumentation
for the molten aluminum industry. Conceived and designed automated systems for inspecting
small ceramic parts and for measuring physical and electrical properties of ceramic
substrates. With an outside company, designed and built a computer controlled PLC
driven control system for a vacuum deposition furnace which enabled the operating scientist
to repeat a batch process exactly without having to touch any control element. The
instructions to the system were in plain English and were fed to the computer via a
standard keyboard. Since many of the “raw materials” were highly toxic very elaborate
precautions were taken to render the system safe. Holds 25 United States patents.
